I used to be a huge “chocoholic” before I went plantbased so chocolates were probably one of the hardest things to give up at first, until I realized what all the refined sugars, dairy and processed ingredients were doing to my body…. now, when the chocolate cravings hit, I make a huge choc smoothie bowl like this one which is sooo satisfyingly creamy, decadent and rich, but without that sick feeling afterwards – I actually feel good! Loaded with nutrients, antioxidants, healthy fats and protein, this smoothie is not only delicious but guilt-free and good for you!! And what goes better with chocolate than strawberries!?
I finished it off with a drizzle of pure, sugar-free date syrup (from my recent trip to Israel) and a sprinkle of cocoa nibs… perfect start to a slow Sunday!
To make this bowl of chocolatey deliciousness :
-blend 2 frozen bananas
-1-2 TBS raw cacao powder (depending on how chocolatey you want it)
-a tsp cacao nibs
-a quarter avo (for extra creaminess)
-1 TBS almond butter
-1 cup almond milk
-a pinch of salt.
-If you like it sweeter, add a date or two.
-I also added a scoop of @soaringfreesuperfoods vanilla shake and a TBS of hemp seeds for extra flavour and protein.
-Top with desired toppings and enjoy!!
