Balanced Lifestyle

As a personal trainer, I should be promoting healthy lifestyle, including exercise, stretching, balanced diet, and sufficient rest. I very much agree that it is important to incorporate physical activity into my daily routine.

However, as a human, I am promoting adopting balanced lifestyle that will be fulfilling in every possible aspect. As difficult as it might seem nowadays, I believe that we should not be too hard on ourselves and try to be selfish at least a couple of minutes a week.

Diana Rodriguez in her article ‘How to Lead a Well-balanced Life’ also stresses that healthy living means, apart from exercising, ‘protecting your mental and emotional health’. Making time for ourselves helps in fulfilling our daily tasks and dealing with stress.*

We have to always bear in mind, however, that we all are unique individuals and that what works for someone and helps them relax may for somebody else mean only more stress. That is the reason why I cannot give you ‘5 tips for balanced lifestyle’. I encourage you to make your own 5 tips that will help you to protect your mental and emotional health. It may be only 10, 20 minutes that you will focus only on doing something that you fully enjoy, without feeling guilty.

My own 5 selfish tips would include:

  1. Put your phone on flightmode for at least 10 minutes a day.
  2. Learn something new everyday.
  3. When exercising, keep in mind you can go harder.
  4. Don’t feel guilty for scrolling on Instagram.
  5. It’s OK not to want to speak to anybody sometimes.

Let me know in the comments below, what are your tips, be unique, be yourself!
